This Memorial Day weekend as we honor our military and pay homage to their sacrifices, family and loved ones are facing the emptiness of yet another holiday without the loving presence of Peggy and Bill Stephenson. The fireworks and festivities are now a reminder of long standing haunting questions that beg for answers.
Today marks the 10th anniversary of the horrific murders of Bill & Peggy Stephenson whose bodies were discovered May 29, 2011 in their condo on Ridge Edge Ct., nestled in the quiet and unassuming Oakbrook subdivision in Florence, Kentucky. Bill & Peggy, both 74 at the time of their murders, left their mark on this Northern Kentucky community through their devotion and generosity and through their dedication to sharing their Christian faith by actively living it. The manner in which they died stands in stark contrast to the gentleness and joy with which they lived.
Locard’s Principle of Exchange informs us that every contact leaves a trace. Peggy and Bill left kindness, generosity, and goodwill with everyone they came into contact with. They were the unlikeliest of candidates to come to such a brutal end and this case cries out for justice. No one should ever have to endure what they endured in their final moments. No one.
Peggy and Bill can no longer speak for themselves but you can speak for them by sharing this post. You can be their voice, you can be their hope. You can honor who they were and all they stood for by not only sharing this post, but by talking with friends and loved ones about this unsolved case. The more people are talking about it, the more likely it is that someone will realize they have information that can help bring their killer to justice. It takes just a second to share this post but it could be exactly what is needed to end the 10 year long question of who killed Peggy & Bill Stephenson.
Many of you reading this post knew Peggy & Bill personally. You have grieved their deaths and mourned the hole they left in this community. You have wondered why. You have wondered who could be capable of such atrocities. You have prayed for answers. It's time for justice. It's time the killer be exposed and held accountable for choosing to take the lives of Peggy & Bill Stephenson. It's time he faced the consequence of choosing to remove them from all of the people and the community they knew, loved, and served.
The family is offering a $50,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of their killer.
Investigators are asking anyone with information to call 859-334-8496 or email stephensontip@boonecountyky.org. No tip is too small, no piece of information too insignificant. What you may think is irrelevant may very well be the missing piece needed to complete the puzzle. You are urged to contact investigators with any information you have and you may remain anonymous if you choose.
